The rich diversity of the Harrison Hot Springs Naturehood
The Harrison is the first river in Canada to receive the designation of Salmon Stronghold as the only area in BC to host all five species of salmon and steelhead trout. One of the key tributaries draining into the Harrison River is Weaver Creek which also boasts an incredible hatchery open ot he public.

This incredible biodiversity provides the perfect environment for a host of species that rely on the salmon as a food source. In addition to the thousands of bald eagles that descend on Harrison Mills every fall, seals, seagulls, bears and sturgeon all rely on the spawning salmon. To celebrate the natural spectacle of thousands of bald eagles congregating on the Harrison River the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival was established in 1995. While some bald eagles are present on the Harrison River year round, the great congregation runs from October to February peaking in mid November when the Festival takes place. To get a chance to see some of the beauty surround Harrison Hot Springs check out one of our great hikes or paddle yourself down the Harrison River.

The countryside also offers some wonderful events.

The first event of the year is the Harrison Uncorked Wine Festival, on April 22nd and 23rd. At the Saturday tasting, Muddy Waters Cafe will be providing canapes made with fresh local products from the local farms. Various events take place from Easter till December at the Kilby Historic Site. Preserving life from the 1920's and 30's in a General Store built in 1905. With farm animals and homestyle restaurant this site is open for a visit anytime during their season. visit www.kilby.ca for a full listing of hours and events.

In 2017, the Agassiz Harrison Museum will be celebrating its 31st year. Join them and explore the history of the families that made Harrison and Agassiz home. Located in an old CPR train station. www.agassizharrisonmuseum.org

One of our favourite events of the summer season is the Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour which is held in July. This incredible event takes bicycle riders on a 25k circuit of the countryside past some of the finest farms in the Valley. More info can be found at www.fraservalleycycletours.com

Voted the best community fair in the province, the Agassiz Fall Fair and Corn Festival takes place on September 15th and 16th in 2017.
